Swimming Pool Het Heersdiep replaced Swimming Pool De Schots, which had stood on the same site since 1971. The new building, designed by architectural firm Wind Architecten Adviseurs, was commissioned by the Municipality of Den Helder and the Royal Netherlands Navy in 2012. The pool was officially inaugurated on September 20, 2013.[1] After a tender, Stichting Aquacentrum Den Helder was appointed by the municipality to operate the pool. The old pool, which stood directly northwest of Het Heersdiep, was demolished after the new pool opened. The name Heersdiep refers to the sea channel of the same name that once separated the wadden islands of Huisduinen and Callantsoog.

Unique : Navy closes 20-year contract with Aquacentrum.
The wish was a deep pit in the pool for Navy divers.
The dream come true is a separate diving tank.
Aquacentrum Den Helder has with the diving tower Triton 12 a facility that is unique in Europe.
From wet suit and dry suit divers to naval divers and those of the fire department, the diving Netherlands can learn to dive here and keep their skills up to date.
Aquacentrum Den Helder has had some tailwind in making its plans.
Elsewhere in Europe, many diving facilities were rejected.
What remained was diving in a former mine shaft in Belgium.
And then, of course, there was the arrival of a major tenant in the form of the Royal Netherlands Navy Command (CZSK).
For safe access to the various roof surfaces, cage ladders have been installed, after which persons on the roof surfaces can secure themselves against falls from height by securing themselves to a Bodyfix or Restrictfix system.
The attachment of the anchor points takes into account the hot and chlorinated environments in the rooms below the roof surfaces.
